Food Processing Department

Overview

The Food Processing Center is a food manufacturing unit that links the Salikneta produce to consumers by converting them into processed foods that are delectable and profitable. It was established specifically for dairy processing, however, its involvement expanded to other farm produce – making fruit juices, concentrate, wine and processed meats: tocino and skinless longganisa.

The center does not limit its involvement in production; it also conducts research and development. Part of the Research and Development system is the cycle of the product development which involves conceptualization, production trials, sensory evaluation, costing, formulation refinement and finalization; establishment of product specification and development of packaging and label design.

For the quality control system, it starts from checking of incoming raw materials to in-line process inspection and finally to finished product testing.

Furthermore, it also serves as a training venue for the Agriculture and Food Technology program. It further envisions to be a self-sustaining and an income generating unit for Salikneta Farm helping Agrivet scholars.
